S&H Green Stamps… one of the original shopping reward programs. If you are old enough to remember these you can appreciate the memories stirred up in repainting this outdoor furniture. My mom was faithful to shop at stores that would contribute to her ever growing pile of green stamps. I had the the tasty chore of licking them one by one, or sometimes row by row, as I methodically and carefully filled the pages of our slightly wrinkled and warped stamp books. She was on a mission to collect enough so that she could “purchase” an entire set of metal outdoor furniture. That was over forty years ago, and it may be a little worn on the edges, but with new “feet”, and a fresh coat of paint, it is scheduled to have a place of prominence on our deck. For most people it is a retro set of furniture. For me it brings a flood of sweet memories of licking stamps for my mom, watching the stack of books grow into a small mountain, and ultimately shopping at the Green Stamp Store, where we exchanged all of the treasured green stamps, for a bright white set of metal outdoor furniture. Simple times, sweet memories.
