Rain On Cherry BlossomsPine Street BiscuitWhat to do when day after day after day it keeps raining…

Circling around narrow and crowded residential streets, Elizabeth and I finally located a parking space a mere block from our destination. Armed with an umbrella and my hood pulled over my head, we set out toward our culinary adventure. With each step, I carefully dodged small lakes in the street, puddles on the sidewalk, and enormous water-bomb “plops” that fell off store-front awnings in a steady rhythmic pattern.

We arrived at our destination and stood in line as we waited our turn to order the homemade biscuits with sausage gravy, after which we began the search for two open spots at the wooden picnic tables that filled the cozy restaurant. The cool air was filled with the hum of conversation as those who sought to partake in a bit of “sunshine” in the form of aromatic hot coffee and biscuits slathered with peppery gravy, lingered over small talk.

Soggy flowers, flaky biscuits, and precious memories…
